BIOCHEMISTRY + PRE-MED + SPANISH + MUSIC + PHOTOGRAPHY
JACOB CORNMAN IS AN EXPLORER OF PEOPLE, FROM EXTERNAL BEHAVIOR TO ITS CELLULAR BASES.
"Biopsychology is the most interesting class l've had at Drury. I've always wanted to know why people behave the way they do. We looked at the science behind behavior, and the processes underlying different disorders. It taught me not to jump to conclusions about people."
"I got a camera when I was really young and played around with it for a long time. In high school, I saved up for a really good DSLR. I'm self-taught and I do some little projects for people, but mostly just for me. I started out not really liking photographing people, but now I do. I love getting a natural reaction, like a real laugh versus a fake smile.
"I want to be a doctor, maybe an anesthesiologist. In junior year biochem lab, we did cancer research, growing cancer cells and testing different drugs' effects on them.
Getting to have that kind of experience helps me be ready for med school."
"MUSIC IS A HUGE PART OF MY LIFE; IT KEEPS ME SANE. I started playing piano when I was five. I started percussion in junior high and got a percussion scholarship to Drury.
And I started playing guitar last year, just for fun. When I play, I don't have to focus on technique - I can let my mind go somewhere else and the music I'm playing makes a soundtrack to a movie of my life in my head."
