Missouri driver license

To apply for a Missouri driver license you must pass a written test and a driving test. Gather your documents before you go: the license office and the Social Security office are separate visits, and the order matters.

What is required

To apply for a Missouri driver license you must take a written test and a driving test. The Missouri Department of Revenue website (opens in a new tab) has more information and a copy of the Missouri State Driver's Manual.

What to bring

  1. Step 1: Passport with U.S. visa.

  2. Step 2: I-94 card or online printout (opens in a new tab).

  3. Step 3: Your most recent I-20 for F-1 students, or DS-2019 for J-1 students.

  4. Step 4: A currently enrolled letter from the Registrar's Office (an enrollment verification).

  5. Step 5: Proof of residency.

  6. Step 6: Social Security documentation:

    Bring your Social Security card or another acceptable document showing your full Social Security number (such as a W-2, SSA-1099, non-SSA-1099, or pay stub).

    If you have not been assigned a Social Security number, obtain a No Social Security Number verification letter (also called an SSA refusal/ineligibility letter, Form SSA-L676) from the Social Security Administration. Bring this letter along with your valid passport, visa, and most recent I-94 record.

    For F-2 or J-2 dependents, they must take the I-20 or DS-2019 with them and a letter of current enrollment stating their spouse is a full-time student of Drury.
